UREEQA-Validated Black Mamba Tribute from BK The Artist Drops October 27th on Known Origin
Devout UREEQAns might know that last spring, the world’s first UREEQA-validated NFT (complete with the first Package of Proof on the planet) generated roughly 25 ETH which at the time equated to $100,000 USD.
The renowned creator behind that project was Brian Kirhagis, AKA “BK The Artist.” Now, we’re teaming up again with BK for another special release -- this time in memory of late NBA legend Black Mamba.
The “Black Mamba” release will contain two original 36” x 48” acrylic canvas paintings -- “Black Mamba #8” and “Black Mamba #24” in honor of the two jersey numbers that Black Mamba wore during his Hall of Fame NBA career.
There will be 50 NFT’s of each edition that will have a utility of receiving a signed and numbered print. These will be available in various sizes and price points. These 100 UREEQA-validated NFTs honoring the man known throughout the sports world as “Black Mamba” will be available for a fixed price sale on the Known Origin Marketplace on October 27th at 3pm EST for allowlist members, and a public sale 24 hours later on the 28th at 3pm EST. The original canvases will be making a few very exciting trips to events including Art Basil in Miami, a launch event for Clarks shoe and BK the artist collaboration, and even an official NBA event organized by Draft Kings. After which the original canvas of both “Black Mamba #8” and “Black Mamba #24” just might go up for sale via their very own NFT auction.

“These creations aren’t just amazing pieces of art,” UREEQA Chief Marketing Officer Shannon Powell said. “They’re also pieces of a great artist’s heart, and BK is expressing emotion on behalf of millions of Black Mamba fans with this project. It’s our duty to protect these pieces with our validation solution, and we’re pleased that UREEQA supporters will have a chance to literally share in the process.”
How so? UREEQA has opted to financially support commissioning the artist to help bring the project to fruition, and true to our mission we passed a portion of that onto our UREEQA Grand Council token holders. UREEQA will retain 25% ownership in the master rights for both creations, which will enable token holders to directly support both creator and his creations, allowing them to reap the rewards associated with bringing a digital art project to life.
UREEQA created the Creator Contribution opportunity for select token holders where for US$1250 each if paid in USDT or USDC or discounted to US$1150 if paid in URQA they helped support the artist during the creation of the work. With this initiative, UREEQA offered spots to UREEQA Grand Council members for a select period of time to get in on our first Creator Contribution Rewards program.
